White Sands National Monument

I finally got to White Sands National Monument after two full days of driving. There is nothing special about driving across the plains, so I was ready for a break from the endless flat countryside! Even the drive up to the dunes was nothing special, but once I got to the visitors' center, I knew I was in for a treat.
I was supposed to meet @dani_the_explorer, @scottyreichard, and @spencerfochtman for some dune exploration, but there wasn't quite a concrete plan yet. Until they got to the dunes, I decided not to venture too far in and did some shorter, touristy hikes remaining in cell service. These were a nice taste for what we would later find. I was able to get a fuller dune experience reading all of the information signs they had and spotted some of the dune wildlife that has adapted incredibly well to the white sand.
Around noon, I met the three Instagrammers for the first time, and we ventured further into the dunes to the Alkali Flats trail - a five mile loop at the heart of the dunes. There are markers for the trail, but we wandered around aimlessly making jokes, laughing, and taking photos as we went.
Both Spencer and I had both been to Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado, and we kept trying to compare the two dune fields. It was hard not to. The beauty from the Great Sand Dunes came from their vastness and enormity. The White Sands however are much different. They are not as large and do not cover as much geographical area, but look pure because they are perfectly white.
Our day continued on to a campsite in the backcountry camping area - Campsite 2. This site offered perfect access to the dune field for sunset. After dinner, we hiked through the dunes.

They changed color while the sun started to set. I thought the Great Sand Dunes were beautiful at sunset, but these dunes mirrored the colors of the sky perfectly. They turned a golden yellow at the start of the sunset and then changed to red then purple and lastly blue before the darkness took over. It was an experience that I won't soon forget, and I'm sure none of my companions will either!
As the night came, our shenanigans continued into the campsite, creating memories with lots of inside jokes. We researched the position of the Milky Way for that night and found that it would be visible at 4:30 am, when the moon went away. We set our alarms for four and called it a night.
Spencer, Scotty, and I woke ready to go, but Dani remained in her tent, needing that extra beauty sleep! She definitely missed out! The Milky Way was almost vertical in the southern sky. As our eyes adjusted, we moved a tent for photo purposes. The stars seemed to get brighter and brighter!
We planned some shots and experimented with flashlights for the majority of the time, and got some incredible photos! The light in the clouds in these two photos is light pollution from Las Cruces, NM and El Paso, TX. I'm usually not a fan of light pollution, but in this case it adds another element to the photos that I think really works!
As dawn and the sunrise approached, the sands started to change their color again, and we were treated to an incredible display in the sky! I've come to find that I've been pretty spoiled when I've been in the Southwest. There haven't been many sunrise or sunset duds!
After sunrise, we packed up camp and headed back to the cars. Spencer had an extra day in New Mexico, and he decided to tag along with me to my next location, Shiprock! We said our goodbyes to Dani and Scotty and went our separate ways.

В условиях резкого спада покупательской способности Россиян, падения курса национальной валюты и кризиса с коронавирусом, реклама лотерейщиков становится всё агрессивнее, вынуждая многих отдавать последнее, сметая билеты в призрачной надежде сорвать огромный джекпот.
Почему же так получается и как не стать жертвой узаконенных казино?
Не секрет, что “пандемия” коронавируса нанесла серьезнейший удар по экономике практически всех стран, включая Россию.
Прогнозы по росту инфляции и падению ВВП, по темпам нищания населения и увеличению безработицы сейчас беспокоят не только экономистов, но и чиновников в высоких кабинетах министерств и ведомств.
В 2020 году многие граждане России потеряли работу из-за коронавируса. Огромное число предприятий малого и среднего бизнеса так и не открылись после весеннего локдауна – они просто не выдержали.
Нечем платить людям, нечем платить за аренду. Несмотря на все меры поддержки, объявленные правительством, получить помощь смогли далеко не все, а об отказах Сбербанка в выдаче беспроцентных кредитов, кажется, уже сочиняют анекдоты.
Это было бы смешно, если не было бы так грустно.
На этом фоне есть организация, которая прекрасно себя чувствует и даже не нуждается в том, чтобы быть включённой в перечень понёсших убытки отраслей.
Эта компания сейчас, чем ближе Новый год и новогодние каникулы, уже заранее начинает беспрецедентную рекламную кампанию с целью сделать себе кассу в условиях, когда далеко не самые обеспеченные группы населения едва выживают.
Что такое “Столото”. Главное в пяти фактах
Факт первый.
Компания “Столото” – это монополист в сфере лотерей в России. Другого оператора тиражных, бестиражных, моментальных розыгрышей в нашей стране пока нет.
“Столото” владеет розыгрышами “Русское лото”, “Золотая подкова”, “6 из 36”, “Гослото”, “Жилищная лотерея”, а также моментальными лотереями “Рапидо”, “Джокер” и рядом других.
Факт второй.
“Столото” является частной конторой, которую возглавляет бизнесмен Армен Саркисян. Однако монополия на лотереи в России – государственная.
Организаторами лотерейных игр официально являются Минфин и Минспорта России, а сама деятельность лотерей регулируется законом “О лотереях” от 11.11.2003 N 138-ФЗ.
Кстати, всем хейтерам в интернете “Столото”, как правило, “тычет” именно этим фактом – дескать, мы государственные и вообще якобы тесно связаны с правительством.
НО ЭТО НЕ ТАК, переходим к третьему факту.
Факт третий.
“Столото”, если бы компания была такой “государственной”, перечисляла бы все свои прибыли или же большую их часть за вычетом операционных расходов в бюджет.
Однако по закону “Столото” отчисляет в бюджет лишь 10% разницы от выручки за отчётный период и сформированного призового фонда.
При этом компания обязана разыгрывать минимум 50% своей выручки.
Звучит вроде бы честно, но не обольщайтесь – впереди факт четвёртый.
Факт четвёртый.
Прибыли “Столото” огромны, но компания ими почти не делится.
На своём сайте в разделе “раскрытие информации” оператор всех лотерей в России указывает, что его выручка растёт год от года.
В 2016 году она составила 24,9 миллиарда рублей, в 2017 году выросла уже до 37,1 миллиарда рублей, в 2018 году достигла 47,7 миллиарда рублей.
2020 год уже скоро кончается, однако в “Столото” пока не опубликовали данные за 2019 год.
Аналитики прогнозируют, что выручка компании за прошлый год составит 60 миллиардов рублей.
Царьград ранее направлял запрос в “Столото”, и ответ компании не содержал опровержения этого прогноза.
Если “Столото” разыгрывает половину выручки, а ещё 10% отдаёт государству, то 40% оставляет себе.
Нет сомнений в том, насколько этот игорный бизнес выгоден именно “Столото”, а вовсе не государству, ведь речь идёт о наваре в десятки миллиардов рублей.
Факт пятый.
1 января 2020 года в России был зафиксирован рекордный выигрыш в лотерею за всю историю – 1 миллиард рублей.
Счастливчиком оказалась жительница Подмосковья Надежда Бартош, выигравшая джек-пот в новогоднем тираже “Русского лото”, в котором участвовали более 53 миллионов билетов.
Многие СМИ сразу заподозрили “Столото” в сговоре с Бартош с целью вывода из компании этой невероятной суммы. И поводы к этому были.
В начале 2020 года Царьград уже писал, что Бартош оказалась невероятным образом связана с главой “Столото” Арменом Саркисяном. Победительница – не бедный человек.
Она владеет торговым домом “Царский осётр”, который, кстати, является дистрибьютором элитной осетровой икры Caviar.
Бывшим гендиректором того самого ТД “Царский осётр”, учреждённого Бартош, оказался некто Сергей Караогланов, который также был членом правления ЗАО “Моспромстрой”, возводившего отели в Москве при Юрии Лужкове.
Куратором “Моспромстроя” был вице-мэр Иосиф Орджоникидзе. А дочь Орджоникидзе – Эка – является супругой владельца “Столото” Армена Саркисяна.
Таким ли случайным теперь выглядит миллиардный выигрыш Бартош?
В “Столото” эти обвинения категорически отвергают и заявляют, что выигрыш был честным.
Чтобы опровергнуть все домыслы, компания “Столото” в начале года намеревалась провести пресс-конференцию с участием Надежды Бартош, куда пригласила всех желающих представителей СМИ.
Однако накануне пресс-конференции правительство России ушло в отставку, а “Столото” отменила в связи с этим запланированное мероприятие для прессы.
Затем компания так и не провела эту пресс-конференцию!
